Ministry Background: Julie stepped into her first jail 16 years ago to bring the gospel to the inmates of Twin Towers located in Los Angeles, CA. Her special blend of music, testimony and teaching has taken her to prisons all over the country with New Life Prison Ministry (a division of Prison Ministry America) and Bill Glass Champions for Life. Julie has served as a speaker and post abortion counselor with Living Help Center (Downey, CA) and has recently spoken for Silent No More. Her passion is to share the hope and "how to overcome" message she has personally experienced, through her relationship with Christ, to a world of hurting people - especially women.
Professional Background: Began her career as a vocalist fronting local jazz orchestras, and performing in musical theater in Spokane WA, and Northern and Southern California. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Julie appeared in television commercials as well as guest appearances in situation comedies and film. As an accomplished vocalist, Julie has performed in nightclubs in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas and travelled throughout Canada and Japan with Top 40 bands. Her musical styles range from Jazz, Contemporary and Pop to Rhythm & Blues and Country.
Testimony: Julie's personal relationship with Jesus has led her on a journey of healing and restoration in overcoming a long list of heartbreaks; a child given up for adoption, an abortion, a miscarriage, and three marriages. Years of depression, struggles with alcohol and drugs nearly ended her life. For 10 years, she searched for a way out -- self-help treatments, diet, exercise, psychotherapy, medications -- but to no avail. Left with no where else to turn, she surrendered everything over to Jesus Christ, embraced God's truth in His Word through biblical counseling and received the power of the Holy Spirit. This allowed her to experience victory through Jesus Christ. Her third marriage was restored and is now 28 years old; after a 10 year dependency on medication for depression, she has been medication free for 18 years; God restored the children she aborted and miscarried with two sons; and finally, after 21 years, she was reunited with the daughter she gave up for adoption. All that sin tried to destroy in her life God restored. Her life serves as an example of how God can take an abused and broken person and make a new creation through Christ, Jesus.
Personal Background: Julie has been a firefighter's wife for 28 years and resides in Downey, CA with her husband Dwight, sons David and Scott and special needs brother-in-law Larry. Her home church is Calvary Chapel of Downey where she has served in the prison ministry, women's ministry and ladies bible studies.
